What is the history of Craigieburn Resort?
Craigieburn was originally built in 1887 as a private country homestead and operated as a grazing property until 1909. The Property was sold and re-established as a country retreat and guest house and maintained an enviable reputation as one of the Southern Highlands premiere guest houses with families returning each year from first to third generations. Many famous guests have visited over the years, but of course Craigieburn remains discreet.
How far is Craigieburn Resort from Sydney.
Craigieburn Resort is located 1hr 15 minutes south of Sydney and 1hr 45 minutes north of Canberra. Directions are located on this web-site under “Getting There”.
What style of accommodation does the retreat offer?
72 fully refurbished guest rooms, most with king size beds. Rooms include TV, bar fridge and tea & coffee making facilities. Some rooms are north facing with balconies and views over the golf course.

What facilities are available?
Craigieburn boasts a private 9-hole golf course, two all-weather tennis courts, billiards room, gymnasium, wireless internet connection throughout the resort and Purity Treatment Room. Fly fishing is available at the lake on the property for groups by appointment. There are also several lounge and terrace areas overlooking the golf course for guests to enjoy.

Does the property have conference facilities?
Yes, modern conference room and breakout areas can cater for up to 200 delegates.
Does Craigieburn Resort have a Restaurant onsite?
Yes they do. Montfort’s Restaurant offers gourmet dining and is open for breakfast lunch and dinner, 7 days a week. Fully licenced, Montfort’s offers a stylish dining venue in the Southern Highlands.
What is there to do in the Southern Highlands?
Everything - or nothing at all - it is your choice. The area is famous for antiques, cafes, cottage industries and its historical significance. We are also famous for crisp-air, open fires and a relaxing weekend in the country.
Do you have special packages for groups and golf?
We have many packages that can be tailored to make your time away special. We would be delighted to quote on a weekend or mid-week stay if you are travelling with a group.
Do you cater for children?
Younger children will enjoy Craigieburn Resort and are most welcome, but facilities are a little limited for teenagers.
Does Craigieburn Resort offer a Massage Facility?
Craigieburn Resort offers the Purity Treatment Room - a specialised massage & beauty therapy facility available 7 days a week. Advance bookings are advised.
Can Craigieburn Resort organise baby-sitting?
Craigieburn Resort can take care of all your baby-sitting needs, utilising accredited local companies.
When do SHG take responsibility for the property and when does it open as Peppers?
SHG took over the management and sales and marketing of Craigieburn Resort Bowral on 19th February 07. The public areas of the property are in good condition, however IT and systems are being upgraded. The rooms will be completely refurbished, with completion due in mid 2008. Once this is all complete the property will be relaunched as Peppers Craigieburn Bowral. Up until then the property will be sold as being managed by SHG, and being relaunched as Peppers in 2008 (as opposed to being marketed as a Peppers now).
